Cord blood banking is a procedure in which the blood left in your baby's umbilical cord and placenta after birth is collected, frozen, and stored for future medical use.

  • Cord blood is collected after the delivery of the baby (either vaginally or by cesarean section) by inserting a needle into the umbilical vein. Typically, the entire process takes less than ten minutes.
  • Once the blood is sealed in the bag, it is shipped to a Cord blood bank, where it is processed for stem cells harvest and frozen for long-term storage.
  • The process of collecting cord blood is painless and safe for the mother and baby as well, with no interference with the birth plans or cutting the umbilical cord.
